Doug Bowser, the President of Nintendo of America has shed more light on the company’s approach when it comes to pricing first-party titles for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, confirming that fans can expect a flexible, case-by-case pricing strategy rather than a uniform cost across all games.
According to Bowser, pricing will continue to depend on key factors such as a game’s depth, development effort, and long-term value.

This means some titles may carry a premium price tag, while others could be more modestly priced, depending on their scope and content. Bowser cited examples from the current lineup, noting that in the U.S., first-party games like Mario Kart World will launch at the price of $79.99, whereas Donkey Kong Bananza will be priced at $69.99, reflecting Nintendo’s ongoing use of a variable pricing model.

Bowser goes on to explain that they are not trying to set a fixed price for all of them as they look at each one and determine the price based on the depth, the development that’s gone into the game, and its longevity.
As fans await more Switch 2 announcements, it remains to be seen how many titles will follow in Mario Kart World’s higher-priced footsteps or fall into more traditional pricing tiers.
