Rockstar Games has surprised fans by dropping the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6. The new footage from Trailer 2 provides a deeper look into the game’s protagonists and the Leonida setting that was first glimpsed in December 2023’s initial reveal.
Trailer 2 confirms long-standing rumors that the male playable character is named Jason, and offers insight into the relationship between him and previously-introduced protagonist Lucia. The trailer opens by following Jason through his daily routine – fixing his roof, interacting with a character named Brian, committing a robbery, exercising on the beach, and purchasing beer – all while Lucia serves time in prison.

We then see Jason picking up Lucia upon her release, with the pair quickly returning to their criminal lifestyle. The footage suggests their relationship is romantic in nature, and hints at complications as they become entangled with federal authorities.
The new trailer expands on what we already know about the game’s setting in Leonida, which features an updated version of the iconic Vice City location from earlier GTA titles. This second look comes as a welcome development for fans who have been meticulously analyzing the first trailer since its release over a year ago.

Recently, Rockstar Games has also announced that GTA 6 will be delayed until May 26, 2026, missing its previously announced 2025 release window. The developer cited their commitment to quality as the primary reason for the extended timeline. The delay positions the game in Take-Two Interactive’s fiscal year 2027, with the announcement reportedly causing Take-Two’s shares to drop as much as 16%.
