Journey Frog (Tabikaeru 旅かえる) Guide – Items and its function translated

The new game from Neko Atsume creator Yutaka Takazaki – Journey Frog (Tabikaeru 旅かえる) has rapidly taken over the mobile stores in various countries (especially in Asia) in a short time just after its release. Many have been playing it but since it is only available in Japanese, you might not be able to fully understand the items and on when to use them. So, here is a Journey Frog guide that translates the items and their functions.

• Animal Visitors and their food preferences

The gameplay of Journey Frog is really simple, all you have to do is to prepare his backpack (so he could bring it to travel), collect clovers (in-game currency) and wait for him to send you pictures from his journey or come back with souvenirs while he is away.

Shop Items

From the shop, you can purchase food, amulets and tools using clovers (can be collected in front of the house or receive from your frog’s friend). Here are the items purchasable in the shop and their function explained:

Food

• Grape Scone – Very small possibility to travel far, bring back 1 photo

• Stellaria Sandwich – Your frog will go out in a rush, bring back 1 or 2 photos

• Pumpkin Bagel – Will travel to somewhere far, bring back 2 or 3 photos

• Onion Quiche – Will return to home fast, bring back 1 or 2 photos

• Wormwood Focaccia – Will travel to somewhere hot

• Chive Pierogi – Will travel to somewhere cold

Amulet

• Lucky Bell – Similar to Four-leaves Clover, this item raises the luck of your frog and allows him to bring back more souvenirs

Tools

• Towel (Earth) – Normal possibility to travel to city (your frog will wear the towel in the photos taken)

• Towel (Wood) – High possibility to travel to city (your frog will wear the towel in the photos taken)

• Towel (Camo) – Very high possibility to travel to city (your frog will wear the towel in the photos taken)

• Natural Tent – Normal possibility to go camping (the tent will appear in the photos taken)

• Stylish Tent – High possibility to go camping (the tent will appear in the photos taken)

• High Tech Tent – Very high possibility to go camping (the tent will appear in the photos taken)

• Transparent bowl – Normal possibility to travel by boat (your frog will sit in the bowl in the photos taken)

• Wooden bowl – High possibility to travel by boat (your frog will sit in the bowl in the photos taken)

• Lacquered Bowl – Very high possibility to travel by boat (your frog will sit in the bowl in the photos taken)

• Candle – Normal possibility to go for adventure (your frog will be holding the candle in the photos taken)

• Paper Lantern – High possibility to go for adventure (your frog will be holding the paper lantern in the photos taken)

• Lantern – Very high possibility to go for adventure (your frog will be holding the lantern in the photos taken)

Lottery Item

You can access Lottery page by clicking the small bell at the shop’s upper right corner, 5 tickets are required for a spin. Tickets are obtainable through buying items by the store (gives out randomly), receive from your frog’s friends or from your frog’s trip. Here are the prizes you may get:

Yellow Jade

• Province Ticket (your frog will travel to the specific direction)
  • Orange – Travel to East
  • Green – Travel to West
  • Red – Travel to South
  • Blue – Travel to North

Red Jade

• Candy (function unknown yet)
  • Red – Strawberry flavor
  • Yellow – Lemon flavor
  • Purple – Grape flavor
  • Green – Melon flavor

Green Jade

• Steamed Bread (will attract other animals to appear in the photo together and to go a specific direction)
  • Orange – Carrot, will go to Kanto
  • Yellow – Pumpkin, direction unknown yet
  • Green – Edamame, will go to Central Region
  • White – Milk, direction unknown yet
  • Grey – Burdock, will go to Kyushu

Blue Jade

• Amulet
