HoYoverse has confirmed that Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.5, titled “To Be Fuel for the Night,” launches on December 30 (UTC+8). With this update, the urban fantasy ARPG reaches the final chapter of Season 2.
As the story escalates, new agents, events, and system optimizations arrive together. To celebrate the new year, all Proxies will receive a free S-Rank Agent Zhao. Players will also earn 1,000 Polychromes, a new outfit for Jane, and additional rewards.
Ye Shunguang Introduces Dual-Form Void Hunter Combat
Version 2.5 centers on Ye Shunguang, the game’s first dual-form Void Hunter. As a senior disciple of Yunkui Summit, she brings the Honed Edge attribute into battle. This mechanic allows her to shift combat flow dynamically.
By entering Enlightened Mind, she activates Ether Veil to deal heavy Honed Edge damage. At the same time, enemies suffer vulnerability effects. Meanwhile, her companion Bangboo Sprout supports attacks with waves of flying swords.
Zhao Joins as a Powerful Ice Defense Agent
Alongside Ye Shunguang, Zhao joins the roster as an S-Rank Ice Defense Agent. Despite her cute appearance, Zhao excels at controlling enemy movement. She dashes quickly and strikes with her massive weapon.
As battles continue, she builds Frostbite on enemies. This buildup enables Ether Veil: Wellspring, which grants strong buffs to the entire squad. Notably, Zhao will be free for all players during Version 2.5.
Season 2’s Story Moves Toward Its Climax
The story continues at Waifei Peninsula, where tensions finally reach a breaking point. The legendary Qingming Sword begins resonating with primordial power. While this force once aided Proxies, it now threatens Ye Shunguang.
Meanwhile, strange white flowers appear across Failume Heights. Their spread signals the growing danger of the Lemnian Hollow. As a result, Proxies explore the Lumite Mine ruins using a new Perception Technique.
New Events Expand Combat and Multiplayer Play
Beyond the main story, Version 2.5 introduces several new gameplay events. The limited-time event Joint Investigation: The Divine Maze adds cooperative multiplayer combat. In this mode, three-player squads face fast-paced challenges.
Success depends on timing and team coordination. Outside combat, the new Proxy Outpost feature strengthens community interaction. Players can create outposts, accept commissions, and share discussions more easily.
Quality-of-Life Updates Streamline Progression
Version 2.5 also delivers meaningful quality-of-life improvements. Agents such as Soldier 11, Grace, Anby, Ellen, and Burnice receive mechanical upgrades. These changes improve combat flow and performance.
Meanwhile, enhancements to Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault refine the endgame loop. A new Combat Simulation sweep function also reduces daily grind. Players can now instantly claim materials using Ether Batteries.
Limited-Time Channels and Launch Platforms
All players can access the Version 2.5 story through Advance Screening. This option allows immediate entry without completing earlier chapters. Throughout the update, signal channels for Ye Shunguang and Zhao remain available. Later, a special rerun channel guarantees one selected S-Rank agent.
These include Alice, Soldier 0 – Anby, or Astra. Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.5 “To Be Fuel for the Night” launches on December 30.
