The Binding Of Isaac developer Edmund McMillen uploaded a new trailer on YouTube for the series’ final expansion, The Binding of Isaac: Repentance.
Uploaded on New Year’s Day, the short 1-minute video showcases the various in-game items and a terrified Isaac on the verge of being stabbed. Ending on a cliffhanger, the trailer concludes by displaying the expansion’s launch date on Steam—31st March 2021.
Unfortunately, console gamers will have to wait as the release date outside of Steam was not announced. The only mention of a console release date is in the trailer’s description, where Edmund states that it will be later.
Repentance is the third and final expansion for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. This expansion is based on a fan-made mod of Rebirth, called The Binding of Isaac: Antibirth. Edmund McMillen approached the mod’s creators to rework and redesign the mod into official DLC, which is Repentance.
According to the expansion’s Steam store page:
Experience the modern classic, The Binding of Isaac, like you’ve never seen it before. It’s a game too big to be called a sequel: Repentance takes Isaac to new heights of roguelike dungeon adventure, as the brave boy descends into the basement for his greatest challenge yet! Isaac’s new quest takes him to unknown places he’s never been, filled with horrible new enemies and bosses, weapon combos you’ve never synergized before and items he’s never seen… unholy terrors from his wildest dreams and worst nightmares!
