Bandai Namco has officially confirmed that Tales of Xillia Remastered will launch worldwide on October 31, 2025, as part of the franchise’s 30th Anniversary Remaster Project. The remaster brings back Jude Mathis and Milla Maxwell, offering fans the chance to relive one of the most beloved entries in the Tales series with modern enhancements.
The remastered edition will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, featuring improved visuals, new features, and fan-requested quality of life updates.
A Classic JRPG Returns

Tales of Xillia was first released in Japan in 2011 and later in North America and Europe in 2013 on the PlayStation 3. The story follows Jude Mathis, a medical student, and Milla Maxwell, a mysterious woman accompanied by elemental spirits. Their journey begins when they discover that the kingdom of Rashugal is draining the world’s mana using a destructive weapon known as the Lance of Kresnik.
What set Xillia apart was its dual protagonist system, letting players experience the narrative from either Jude’s or Milla’s perspective. This feature made the game stand out among JRPGs of its era.
What’s New in Tales of Xillia Remastered

The remaster brings back the Dual Raid Linear Motion Battle System, a real-time combat mechanic where players link characters to unleash combos, activate support skills, and chain abilities together.

The remaster of Tales of Xillia introduces a host of modern upgrades and quality-of-life features designed to enhance the experience. Players can look forward to graphical improvements, with enhanced resolution and performance, including 4K support on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
For the first time, the Grade Shop will be available from the beginning of the game, providing 5000 GRADE points to immediately unlock items. The remaster also includes over 40 pieces of original DLC, featuring costumes, support items, and more.

Several gameplay conveniences have also been added. An autosave function now ensures progress is saved after exploration or story events, while an enemy encounter toggle allows players to avoid unnecessary battles. Defeated in combat? The new retry feature lets players attempt regular battles again without returning to the title screen. In addition, subtitles are now displayed during Mystic Artes and post-battle dialogue, improving accessibility.

Exploration is smoother as well, with a dash toggle for faster movement and expanded map icons marking destinations, sub-events, treasure chests, and items. Cutscenes and skits can now be skipped, offering flexibility for replays, and players can adjust camera distances while exploring dungeons and fields.

Additionally, a Digital Deluxe Edition will be offered, including the full game, a digital artbook, soundtrack, a Battle BGM Pack, and bonus support items. Pre-orders also grant the Super Adventuring Assistance Set, featuring healing and revival items.

Why Fans Are Excited
The Tales series holds a special place in JRPG history. While it may not be as mainstream as Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, it has built a loyal fanbase over the decades. With Tales of Graces f Remastered earlier this year and Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition before it, Bandai Namco is steadily preserving the franchise for new generations.
For many fans, Tales of Xillia Remastered is not just a return, it’s a chance to finally replay or experience a PS3 classic that was locked to old hardware for over a decade.

With enhanced visuals, expanded DLC, and fresh features, Tales of Xillia Remastered is shaping up to be the definitive way to experience this classic JRPG.
Tales of Xillia Remastered launches on October 31, 2025. Visit the official Bandai Namco website for more information.
