SEA players who’ve been waiting for some PVP action can now play Overwatch Rush as it goes live in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Blizzard Entertainment’s mobile spin-off is going through its soft launch, following its initial launch in Indonesia on August 31.

Overwatch Rush is a free-to-play title, but unlike the mainline FPS entries, it follows a top-down format. However, it still retains the familiar heroes and abilities players have grown to love from the highly acclaimed competitive shooter.

The Southeast Asian soft launch also introduces players to the Hero Level system. This allows players to earn progression currencies as they continue to play the game and level up their chosen heroes.

Speaking of heroes, Overwatch Rush includes a stacked launch roster, featuring Tracer, Reinhardt, Soldier: 76, Reaper, Kiriko, Pharah, Mercy, and Lúcio. Furthermore, the mobile game brings in new maps, including Narwhal Cove and Hydronet Gardens.

Meanwhile, players can try their hand at the game’s new modes, including staples like Duo, Free for All, and 3v3 Control. Blizzard has also introduced gameplay improvements after hearing feedback from previous playtests. The most notable among these changes include a redesigned tutorial, an aim assist toggle, and improved teammate indicators.

With Overwatch Rush now available in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, Southeast Asian players can finally experience Blizzard’s hero shooter in a mobile-friendly format. Best of all, it’s free. Although the game is still in its soft launch phase, Blizzard is showing a promising future for the title, as it continues to gather player feedback to further refine the experience.
