Since its simultaneous release in Japan and Global on 28 October last year, Slime ISEKAI Memories has earned over 100 million USD in revenue. To be specific, the game has earned 107,864,520 USD according to data from AppMagic.
As with most mobile games, the bulk of the revenue comes from the game’s first month of its launch. The latest spike in revenue in the past 6 months came from the half-anniversary event of Slime ISEKAI Memories. For players of the game, you may recognise that as the Space element banner, which added the overpowered Masked Hero.
When breaking down into each country, Japan leads in pretty much every category by a country mile, contributing more than 80% of the game’s 107 million USD figure. This is followed by the United States, contributing 10.7 million USD and South Korea with 2.3 million USD. This ranking is also reflected in terms of number of downloads, with Japanese players downloading the game 1,380,775 times, USA with 574,587 downloads and South Korea with 192,696 downloads.
As for the average revenue per user (ARPU), Japan once again leads the pack with each user spending 61.44 USD on average, more than double the ARPU of second-placed Hong Kong at 30.11 USD.
While these figures certainly sound impressive to the average player, how does it stack up against other gacha games?
We decided to compare the revenue of Slime ISEKAI Memories with that of Alchemy Stars, since both games are rare cases of gacha games releasing simultaneously in all regions. Despite Alchemy Stars releasing a few months prior, Slime ISEKAI Memories has raked in a much higher revenue. This is even more surprising, since Alchemy Stars trumps Slime ISEKAI Memories in terms of downloads in their launch month.
Even without the appeal of an established anime IP backing it, it can be inferred that Alchemy Stars had superior marketing. In its first 30 days, the game had more than 2 million downloads. Slime Isekai Memories took more than a month to achieve the same milestone.
It’s also worth noting that the average Slime ISEKAI Memories player spends more than double what the average Alchemy Stars player spends, with an ARPU of 30.13 USD as opposed to 14.4 USD.
Note that the data we shared from AppMagic shouldn’t be used as an objective indication of each game’s quality. As for Slime ISEKAI Memories, we’re eager to see what kind of spike the game will receive during its 1st anniversary celebration.
