The Pokémon Company recently hosted a special Pokemon Presents, sharing exciting updates across the popular franchise. The online stream featured several major announcements, including a brand-new game available now and a first look at an upcoming animated series.
New Puzzle Game Launches Today
Pokémon Friends, a cozy puzzle game, is now available on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices. The game invites players to solve daily brain teasers inspired by the Pokémon world. As players complete puzzles, they earn yarn that can be used in the Plush-O-Matic to create adorable Pokémon plush toys.
The game features over 1,200 puzzles designed to make critical thinking fun. Players can help townspeople through friend quests by giving them plush toys, or use the plush to decorate their own customizable rooms. Furthermore, with options to change furniture and wallpaper, players can make each space their own.
Developed with Wonderfy Inc., Pokémon Friends supports up to five save files, making it perfect for families to enjoy together. Moreover, players can collect up to 150 different plush toys and track their daily progress with calendar stamps.
Stop-Motion Series Coming in 2027
A new teaser was revealed for “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu,” an upcoming stop-motion animated series created in partnership with Aardman, the studio behind Wallace and Gromit. In addition, the series, set to arrive in 2027, promises to showcase the Pokémon world with Aardman’s signature style of character work, comedy, and craftsmanship.
Moreover, Peter Lord, co-founder and creative director of Aardman, introduced the project, building anticipation for the mischief these two Pokémon characters will get into. The teaser is now available on the official Pokémon YouTube channel.
Trading Card Game Gets Mega Evolution Boost
The Pokémon Trading Card Game is bringing back Mega Evolution in a big way with a new expansion launching September 26, 2025. New cards were revealed, including special illustration rare versions of Mega Lucario ex, Mega Gardevoir ex, and Mega Kangaskhan ex.
The expansion also features a connected card series showing Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Mega Venusaur ex that form a larger image when placed together, giving collectors an extra incentive to complete the evolutionary line.
Additional Updates Across Pokémon Games
The presentation also shared updates for various Pokémon mobile and console games. Pokémon Concierge will return with new episodes on Netflix September 4, 2025. In addition, the 2025 Pokémon World Championships are scheduled for August 15-17 in Anaheim, California, featuring competitions across multiple Pokémon games.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet received a free upgrade for the new Nintendo Switch 2 system, offering smoother gameplay and improved image quality. Various other Pokémon mobile games, including Pokémon GO, Masters EX, UNITE, Sleep, and Café ReMix, also received updates and new content announcements
A permanent Pokémon theme park called PokéPark KANTO is also planned to open in Japan in early 2026 at Yomiuriland amusement park, with ticket sales beginning in late 2025.
