The official Pokémon Bank service will end on February 26, 2027. The service was initially introduced to the 3DS in 2023 as a way for players to ‘bank’ their Pokémons, and move them between compatible titles.

It posed major historical significance, as it allowed players to keep their hard-earned collection they’ve built for years when the next generation of Pokémon games would come out. Pokémon Bank started as a paid service, but became free to users who had already downloaded it prior to its discontinuation from the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Since then, the most recent iteration of a similar service has been Pokémon HOME, which was released worldwide in 2020 for Switch, iOS, and Android.

For the longest time, players have been able to transfer their Pokémons to HOME from the 3DS app. However, the company announced that the feature will no longer be available when the service shuts down in February 2027.  Due to this news, the company advises players to use the feature before then, though it’s worth noting that Pokémon Bank to HOME transfers require the latter service’s premium subscription.

Although there are Pokémon sitting in old 3DS games that can’t simply be moved directly into modern games, the HOME app has been continuously improving its catalogue of supported titles since its launch. For instance, it’s expected to support Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version this October.

With longtime fans having less than 200 days to transfer their collection to modern titles, it’s time to bid farewell to the platform that allowed players to preserve their multiple years-long collections across several generations.
