Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV has been delayed from its original September 17 release date to December 3. The announcement comes from publisher Deep Silver and developer KING Art Games. The game will launch on PC via Steam. Players who buy the Commander Edition will be able to start playing earlier, on November 30.
Game director Jan Theysen explained the decision in a video update. “We’ve made the decision to move the launch to December 3,” he said.
“Like many of you, we were looking forward to playing the game in September, but we really believe this is the right decision, and the additional time will be worth it.”

Theysen said the response to the game so far has been strong, pointing to the faction trailers, battlefield reports, and community playtests that thousands of players took part in. He said this feedback helped shape the game and that the team is proud of what has been built so far. According to Theysen, the extra time is meant to give the developers room to include more player feedback, fix bugs, improve performance, and polish the overall experience. He said the goal is for every player to have a strong experience from the very first day the game is available.
He also said the studio will continue sharing updates in the coming weeks, including more battlefield reports, gameplay footage, and closer looks at different parts of the game. Alongside the delay, Deep Silver released an updated Year One roadmap, laying out how post-launch content will now line up with the new release date.
With the new release date for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV set, players now have a clearer picture of when they’ll be able to jump into the next chapter of the Dawn of War series.
