Warner Bros. Games has officially confirmed the sequel to their hit 2023 game, Hogwarts Legacy, in their latest shareholder letter. 

The letter stated that they’re centering around four key $1 billion+ franchises, citing Lego: Legacy of the Dark Knight and Game of Thrones: Dragonfire as some of their first releases for this plan.

‘We expect Games to more meaningfully contribute to segment profitability going forward as our pipeline expands, including the second installment of Hogwarts Legacy,’ the publisher added.

Although no new info has been revealed regarding the much-anticipated Hogwarts Legacy sequel, gamers are satisfied that the publisher spoke about the project’s existence outside of job ads and rumors.

The first Hogwarts Legacy game was a massive success for Warner Bros. Games, selling over 40 million copies since launch. It offered an open world that stayed true to the world of the Harry Potter franchise, without relying heavily on the titular character.

It also featured RPG elements that allowed players to experience what it’s like to be a student of the school of magic, which is what players hope for in the sequel as well. However, earlier job postings from developers Avalanche suggest that ‘Hogwarts Legacy 2’ may integrate multiplayer and live service.

Hogwarts Legacy came out on PC and both the eighth and ninth generations of consoles, and most recently, Switch 2.

It’s too early to speculate about the release date of the game, but for now, players can rest easy knowing that they can return to the school of wizardry and embark on more fantastic adventures.
