Pokémon Legends: Z-A keeps revealing fresh surprises, and the newest one is a true showstopper. Mega Hawlucha has officially entered the roster, standing out as one of the boldest and most stylish evolutions to date.
A Dramatic Mega Evolution Reveal
The Pokémon Company showcased Mega Hawlucha in a cinematic trailer where the luchador bird faced Machamp inside a wrestling ring. The fight began with Hawlucha nearly defeated, cornered against the ropes. However, in classic underdog style, the scene transitioned into an emotional training montage that gave the battle new weight.

Hawlucha then harnessed the power of determination and love, triggering its Mega Evolution. The transformation updated its feathers into a striking, mask-like design inspired by Mexican wrestling. With renewed strength, Mega Hawlucha returned to the ring and quickly turned the tables on Machamp. Fans can watch the full Mega Hawlucha vs. Machamp showdown here.
Mega Hawlucha’s Design and Power
Compared to Mega Dragonite’s goofy look or Mega Victreebel’s bizarre form, Mega Hawlucha feels like a breath of fresh air. Its design blends flair and intimidation, perfectly capturing the spirit of a high-flying, wrestling-inspired fighter.

According to the official description, Mega Hawlucha bulks up through Mega Evolution, relying on its reinforced muscles to endure powerful strikes. It lures enemies into attacking, retaliates with devastating precision, and ultimately finishes opponents using its signature move, Flying Press. The Pokémon Company highlights its relentless style as both flashy and effective.

The Pokédex entry also highlights its personality: before Mega Evolution, Hawlucha often got caught up in flashy showboating. With boosted defenses and greater confidence, it can now flex its pectoral muscles, spread its wings, and hype up both its opponent and its Trainer—bringing the energy of a true wrestling entertainer.
Official stats confirm it as the Wrestling Pokémon, with a Fighting/Flying type, standing 3’3″ (1 m) tall and weighing 55.1 lbs. (25 kg).
Other New Mega Evolutions

Mega Hawlucha joins a roster already showcasing Mega Dragonite and Mega Victreebel. While some fans find these designs divisive, their reveals have been creative. Mega Victreebel, for example, debuted through a found footage horror clip, adding a playful twist to its otherwise strange design. This variety of reveals shows that the development team is experimenting with tone and presentation.
Awaiting Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Launch

Mega Hawlucha may eventually hide darker secrets, as Mega Evolutions in Pokémon lore often bring unintended consequences. Yet, for now, its arrival represents one of the most exciting additions Pokémon Legends: Z-A has shared so far. Pokémon Legends: Z-A releases on October 16, 2025, for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 and you can pre-order the game here.
