Sony Interactive Entertainment and Arc System Works have officially announced three new characters for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls: Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage. The trio will join Doctor Doom as members of the villainous Knights of Doom, making them the fourth team revealed for the game so far. Alongside the announcement, the developers also showcased a nighttime version of the Marvel’s New York stage, which serves as the team’s headquarters and features a much darker atmosphere compared to its daytime counterpart.
Magneto is one of the most significant additions to the game’s roster. The longtime X-Men adversary uses his magnetic powers to turn the surrounding environment into a weapon. He can hurl various objects at opponents, while debris left behind in the arena can interact with his abilities to create even more powerful attacks. His playstyle focuses on area control and constant pressure, making it difficult for opponents to move freely.

Meanwhile, Green Goblin brings a much faster and more deceptive approach to combat. Riding his iconic glider, Norman Osborn can maneuver swiftly through the air while launching a variety of ranged attacks using Pumpkin Bombs and Razor Bats. His combination of high mobility and unpredictable attack patterns makes him an effective character for disrupting an opponent’s rhythm and game plan.

Finally, there is Carnage, who offers a far more brutal fighting style compared to the other two. By utilizing his symbiote tendrils and limbs that can transform into razor-sharp blades, he is capable of unleashing relentless offensive pressure. Several of his abilities can also infect opponents with special effects that enhance Carnage’s attack power, even allowing him to deal additional damage while the enemy is blocking.

In addition to the reveal of these new characters, Arc System Works also introduced the main threat at the center of the game’s story: the Champion of the Universe. This ancient being, who has lived for billions of years, has organized a tournament known as The Challenge of the Champion to determine the strongest fighter from across the multiverse. In Story Mode, teams consisting of four characters will battle for the right to challenge the Champion, while the fate of Earth hangs in the balance of the tournament’s outcome.
MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls is currently scheduled to launch on August 6 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
