Action RPG Phantom Blade Zero will no longer hit its September 9 release date. Developer S-GAME has moved the game to October 29, 2026, pushing it back about 50 days. The game is still coming to PlayStation 5 and PC. S-GAME CEO Soulframe shared a message explaining the decision, opening with an apology to fans who have been following the game. He said the delay was not easy to make, but the team saw one more opportunity to push the game a step further before launch.
Hello everyone,
As many of you just saw in today’s State of Play, pre-orders for Phantom Blade Zero will open this summer!
At the same time, I want to share another update: Phantom Blade Zero will now launch on October 29, 2026, moved from its previous date of September 9,… pic.twitter.com/hsAvGDMaFO

According to Soulframe, the team has upgraded a number of character models and reworked many environments to reach a higher visual standard. He also noted that extra work went into making the game look its best even for players not using ray tracing, saying the goal is to make sure the core look and atmosphere comes through for as many players as possible. Ray tracing support will still be in the game and will enhance visuals further, but it will not be required to get the full experience the team is going for.
Soulframe acknowledged that 50 days cannot fix everything, but said the window is enough to complete a set of specific improvements that will affect how the game feels when players first jump in. He added that while some of these changes could have been delivered through post-launch updates, the team wants day-one players to have the best version of the game from the start.

Looking back at the game’s development, Soulframe pointed to how Phantom Blade Zero has grown since its first reveal in 2023, through its first hands-on demo in 2024, and into the various gameplay showcases in 2025, describing each showing as a clear step forward from the one before it.
On what comes next, the CEO outlined two things fans can look forward to this summer. First, a new trailer featuring entirely new in-game footage will release alongside the opening of pre-orders. Second, after pre-orders go live, there will be a dedicated State of Play focused entirely on Phantom Blade Zero, running 15 to 20 minutes and covering the game’s world, combat, exploration, and character progression. S-GAME says the majority of what will be shown there is brand new. Exact dates for both will be announced later.
