HoYoverse has announced that Version 3.5 of Honkai: Star Rail, titled Before Their Deaths, will officially launch on August 13. This update marks the start of the second half of the Amphoreus story, bringing new adventures, formidable characters, and immersive storylines for Trailblazers to experience.
Following the intense battle where Phainon halted Irontomb’s advance, the Trailblazer now journeys with Cyrene into a new cycle of Eternal Recurrence. This time, the story takes players a thousand years into the past to ancient Okhema, when Imperator Cerydra, wielder of the Law Coreflame, ruled the region before Aglaea’s rise.
Hysilens and Cerydra Join the Trail
Version 3.5 introduces two powerful new 5-star characters. Hysilens, a Physical-Type following the Path of Nihility, serves as the knight commander of the holy city. She specializes in applying multiple damage-over-time effects and weakening enemies with her Zone-based abilities. Her skills make her a strong pick for DoT-focused team compositions.
Joining her is Imperator Cerydra, a Wind-Type character aligned with the Path of Harmony. A master tactician, she empowers allies with “Military Merit,” a buff that enhances critical damage and replicates Skill effects for increased team output.
Also returning in Version 3.5 are fan-favorite Stellaron Hunters Kafka and Silver Wolf. Each will appear in separate Warp events, offering players another chance to recruit their powerful and versatile abilities.
Explore the New Map and Events
Trailblazers will also unlock a brand-new area—Styxia, the City of Infinite Revelry. This dazzling metropolis plays host to intense new story developments as players face off against Lygus, a powerful enemy who constantly shifts between two opposing forms. As the confrontation unfolds, his secret identity and true motives begin to surface.
Version 3.5 also features multiple themed events. In Chrysos Maze Grand Restaurant, players will help the Chrysos Heirs renovate and manage a restaurant in Aedes Elysiae, cooking meals and winning fairy patrons’ hearts. Meanwhile, the Old Brews & New Friends event invites players to mix drinks at the Dreamjolt Hostelry and enjoy touching reunions with past companions.
Additionally, a new voice toggle feature allows Trailblazers to switch between in-game dubbing and the original licensed voice actors for select collaboration characters.
Global Expansion and Continued Accolades
Honkai: Star Rail is now available on PC, iOS, Android, Epic Games Store, and PS5, having surpassed over 150 million downloads globally. The game continues to receive major industry recognition, including “Best Mobile Game” at The Game Awards 2023 and the “Still Playing” award at the Golden Joystick Awards 2024.
As part of its ongoing global engagement, Honkai: Star Rail will be attending Gamescom 2025. Visitors can check in at the HoYoverse booth for a chance to collect exclusive merchandise and connect with fellow fans.
