Sunrise has announced the release window for season 2 of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury.
In a tweet following today’s season finale, it’s revealed that Gundam: The Witch From Mercury will start airing as part of the April line up of anime, retaining the show’s 5PM JST Sunday slot.
“Please support Season 2 as well!” the official announcement reads.
It’s not been currently confirmed if the second season will continue to be uploaded to YouTube via the GundamInfo YouTube channel or not.
Less than an hour after the premiere of the episode on GundamInfo, it looks like over 32,000 people have tuned in for the season finale- which sees the main characters under attack by mercenaries from the previous episode.
While Witch From Mercury will not be continuing until April, Sunrise will continue to have anime for the January anime season- including a TV re-release of Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, cut into episodes starting January 15th at 5pm JST.
Similarly, February would see a TV edit of Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, which would air on February 12th, 2023, as well as Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative on March 5th.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury is an alternate universe setting that follows Suletta Mercury, a new student at Asticassia Academy.
Fans had unilaterally praised the anime’s unique settings, especially when realizing its first episode was pretty much a send up to Revolutionary Girl Utena.
The series regularly trends on Twitter on Sundays, with fans rushing to discuss the happenings of every week’s episode and an increasingly bizarre series of memes based off the second episode.
