The announcement was made at a special livestream today, celebrating Guilty Gear Strive surpassing 500,000 units sold with the new trailer for the DLC.
From the trailer it looks like Goldlewis will be a defensive character, with a slower playstyle and tools to keep opponents out such as his coffin from Area 51 which contains an alien, as well as heavy weapons.
It also looks like he has a fireball similar to Kum Haehyun from Guilty Gear XRD, though it’s not entirely clear if the player can control the fireball similar to Haehyun or if it just moves really slowly.
It’s no surprise that Goldlewis was the first DLC character for Guilty Gear Strive- he features grand prominence in the opening movie, joining in with all the montages of the other playable characters.
