Developer HoYoverse has officially announced that the Version Luna VII update for Genshin Impact will launch on May 20. Titled Song of the Welkin Moon: Andante – Truth Amongst the Pages of Purana, the update brings players back to Sumeru for a brand-new Archon Quest, while also introducing three new playable characters, limited-time events, and additional gameplay features.

The upcoming update appears to be one of the most story-heavy expansions in recent months, with Sumeru facing a dangerous new crisis tied to the mysterious reappearance of an enemy resembling Il Dottore. At the same time, Nahida reportedly falls into a mysterious slumber, pushing the nation closer to chaos.

Sumeru Faces A New Threat

Genshin Impact Version Luna VII continues the ongoing narrative in Sumeru through a new Archon Quest chapter that reunites several familiar faces, including Collei, Nicole, and Ibis King Thoth. According to HoYoverse, the update introduces a powerful new enemy whose appearance strongly resembles Il Dottore, despite the Harbinger previously being believed defeated.

Players who complete the new Archon Quest during the limited-time availability period will receive up to 560 Primogems alongside Nicole’s Ascension Materials. The update will also add a brand-new Weekly Boss encounter featuring unpredictable attack patterns and devastating summon abilities.

To improve the overall story experience, HoYoverse is also implementing a new Guiding Notes feature that provides recap summaries for past story events. Quest autosave prompts have additionally been enhanced, making it easier for players to continue lengthy story segments without interruption.

Nicole Becomes The First Playable Hexenzirkel Mage

One of the biggest highlights of the update is the arrival of Nicole Reeyn, the first playable member of the Hexenzirkel in Genshin Impact. Nicole is a 5-star Pyro Catalyst user focused heavily on team support and coordinated combat mechanics.

Her Elemental Skill grants attack bonuses to the entire party while also generating a protective shield. Meanwhile, her Elemental Burst summons an Arcane Projection that follows the active character and unleashes coordinated attacks depending on the party’s Elemental composition.

Outside of combat, Nicole can also summon a Seelie through her Charged Attack to guide players toward nearby treasure. Version Luna VII will additionally unlock the interior of the Witch’s Lodge in her Meeting Point area, The Witch’s Garden, featuring new rooms, hidden rewards, and weekly story content.

Lohen And Prune Join The Expanding Roster

The update will also introduce Lohen, a new 5-star Cryo Polearm character and Vice Captain of the Knights of Favonius’ Fifth Company. His combat system revolves around two unique mechanics called Joy and Will to Win, allowing him to chain aggressive Cryo-based attacks through his Masterstroke combat state.

According to HoYoverse, Lohen becomes especially powerful when paired with Hexenzirkel-related characters, potentially hinting at future team-building synergies for upcoming updates. His Story Quest will also explore previously untold lore involving the Knights of Favonius.

Joining the roster alongside Nicole and Lohen is Prune, a 4-star Anemo Catalyst wielder who refers to herself as a Witch Hunter. Using both a bell and a giant hammer in combat, Prune specializes in multi-Elemental damage and Swirl reactions.

The first phase of the Event Wishes will feature Nicole and Prune alongside a rerun for Durin, while the second phase introduces Lohen and the return of Mavuika.

New Events And Miliastra Wonderland Content

Beyond the main storyline and character additions, Genshin Impact Version Luna VII also includes several new limited-time activities. One event focuses on Klee’s Little Hexenzirkel, where players can participate in mini-games alongside Qiqi, Yaoyao, Sayu, and Prune.

Rewards for the event include the exclusive weapon appearance Super Awesome Magic Key.

Meanwhile, Miliastra Wonderland will host a special sports festival event featuring additional activities and content updates. Players will also gain expanded creative options thanks to improved editing tools and new assets.

Another new feature allows Manekins to perform actions across Teyvat, giving players more flexibility when capturing screenshots using the Kamera feature.
