The team behind Neverness to Everness (NTE) has officially responded to player concerns about the use of generative AI in the game, confirming that AI-assisted tools were used in a limited capacity during development.
Hotta Studio and Perfect World Games posted a statement on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, acknowledging that AI-assisted tools were used to create “a small number” of background and environmental assets. The developers were clear that AI was not involved in the creation of characters, stories, or any of the core creative work.
“The characters, stories, and world you experience are the work of artists, writers, and designers,” the statement reads.
Dear Appraisers,
Thank you for the feedback. It matters to us.
Neverness to Everness is built on human creativity. The characters, stories, and world you experience are the work of artists, writers, and designers. AI-assisted tools were used only on a small number of background…

Since its global launch between April 28 and 29, players had been raising flags about what they believed were signs of AI-generated content in NTE. Reports pointed to backgrounds, in-game posters and ads, and even certain visual elements in character videos as areas of concern.
The response from the community has been mixed. A number of players said they are comfortable with the limited AI use, as long as it does not affect jobs within the development team.
The developers specifically named two areas tied to the AI-assisted assets: the Clear Skies in Summer story arc and the Pink Paw Heist looting game. Both are currently being reviewed and reworked by the team. Despite the controversy, Neverness to Everness has been received well overall.
