During the Gamecom 2019 opening livestream, they released a trailer for Little Nightmares 2. We are very lucky to get an interview with the producer of Little Nightmares, Lucas Roussel, and Dave Mervik, the Senior Narrative Designer for the Little Nightmares. Let’s dive into the nightmare that they have stored for us!
In Little Nightmares 2, sadly you won’t be able to play as Six but instead you get to play as Mono, the new child protagonist for Little Nightmares 2. Throughout the game, you will have Six by your side and you guys have to work together to survive on a journey to the signal tower which is the central story of this game. Even though, Six will be by your side but she won’t be a playable character throughout the game as Little Nightmares 2 is a single player game.
It is not like they want to abandoned Six. The developers of Little Nightmare 2 love Six as a character but they have so much more things to show the players in the world of Little Nightmare. The world of Little Nightmare has so much to offer to the player than just Six. They also wanted for players to meet with new character and fall in love with them just as you fell in love with Six in the first game.
If you guys played the first game, you guys know who is Six, right? The main protagonist from the first game who is very strong, active and doesn’t need anyone’s help to survive. The developers want to maintain this personality into the second game as well. In the game, you can request Six to help you to reach a platform to solve a quest. Six also will take the lead when the situation calls for it. Looks like we will be in a safe hand with Six is around. Or will we?
The world of Little Nightmares 2 is set to be outside of the Maw from the Little Nightmares. We might be able to get a good glimpse of the Little Nightmare World. In the forest environment, there will be a bloodthirsty hunter out there looking and hunting you down. For the school environment, there will be a mixture of outdoor and indoor environment and the Sadistic Teacher waiting for you at school.
In the Little Nightmare 2, the mechanics will be the same as the first game. You get to be able to pick up stuff to solve a puzzle for example to break a door. This time, they added some kind of combat mechanics to the game. Don’t worry, it won’t turn out into a Hack and Slash game at all. You can only get in combat for the smaller enemy. But for a bigger enemy, you can only combat to only give yourself some time to escape to a safer place.
For the developers, Little Nightmares is all about the story progression and the atmosphere of the game. Making the players feel certain emotion so at times they want to make the player feel safe and the other times they want to take away the safety and make it feel afraid and pressured . Having a co-op game will ruin that experience. Therefore, the developers have decided to make Little Nightmares 2 into a single player game.
The developers of Little Nightmares are thrilled to come back and show a new story to everyone. They were very overwhelmed with the reception for the first game which made them feel very proud of. The developers hoped that they can make the fans happy with the upcoming game Little Nightmares 2.
Little Nightmares 2 will be coming out to PC, PS4, Nintentdo Swith and Xbox One. Look forward for the game in 2020.
