Fate/EXTRA Record Delayed Until Further Notice and Misses Spring 2026 Window

Type-Moon’s upcoming remake Fate/EXTRA Record has been delayed once again, and this time it comes with a bigger shakeup saying the game is parting ways with its publisher, Bandai Namco Entertainment.

The announcement came through both the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account and a statement on Type-Moon’s official website. According to the posts, sales of Fate/EXTRA Record through Bandai Namco have been cancelled following discussions between Notes Co., Ltd. and Bandai Namco Entertainment. As a result of those talks, the development structure of the game is being reorganized, and a new publisher will be taking over. Both the new publisher and a revised release date will only be announced once everything has been finalized.

This is actually the second time the game has been pushed back. Fate/EXTRA Record was originally targeting a 2025 launch before being moved to Spring 2026 back in July of last year. Now it has no set release window at all. Despite the turbulence, Type-Moon confirmed that development is continuing. The studio apologized to fans who have been waiting for the title and asked for their patience and understanding.

For those unfamiliar with the project, Fate/EXTRA Record is a full remake of Fate/EXTRA, the very first RPG in the Fate franchise, originally released on the PlayStation Portable. The remake is currently in development for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

No further details have been shared at this time. Fans will have to wait for a follow-up announcement from Type-Moon regarding the new publisher and when the game will finally hit shelves.
