Epic Games Store Drops Dead Island 2 for Free – More Surprises Incoming

Epic Games Store is back with a bang, kicking off its Mystery Games giveaway with Dead Island 2 from Dambuster Studios. Alongside the eerie indie hit Happy Game, this undead-filled action title headlines the first wave of free games for the month. What’s more, three more mystery games are set to drop soon, keeping the surprises coming.

Upon initial launch, the PC version of Dead Island 2 was praised for its solid performance across a variety of hardware setups. Since then, it’s only gotten better, thanks to content updates and modders who’ve enhanced the experience further by adding support for NVIDIA’s DLSS upscaling.

Set in a quarantined, zombie-infested Los Angeles, Dead Island 2 throws players into a brutal, blood-soaked survival story. Bitten and infected, the main character discovers they’re not just immune – they’re something more. To survive, they’ll need to uncover the truth behind the outbreak and figure out who – or what – they really are.

While the game kicks off with exciting, fast-paced combat, the experience can grow repetitive due to its straightforward level design and shallow combat mechanics. It’s good for some mindless fun, but at full price, it left many questioning its overall value.

However, if you’re in the mood for some satisfying zombie-slaying, whether it be solo or with friends, Dead Island 2 is still worth diving into. The game free on the Epic Games Store until May 22, so there’s no better time to give it a try.
