Bandai Namco’s latest action RPG, CODE VEIN II, has officially launched alongside a comprehensive set of patch notes for updates 1.0.1 and 1.0.2. The developer released a new trailer to mark the occasion while detailing the extensive changes and improvements made to the game.

The updates introduce two significant features to the game. The first is “Regional Pathos,” which represents the strong emotions of those who once lived in the game’s world. Players can offer prayers at these Pathos locations found throughout the field to receive divine protection, granting various benefits while in the affected area.

The second addition is “Restorative Offering,” a new ability that allows your Buddy to share their life force to heal the player when they run out of strength. However, this comes at a cost—the Partner becomes unable to act for a set period after using this ability.

Improvements and Balance Changes

The patches bring notable changes to the game’s audio-visual experience. Field background music has been added, and sound effects have been adjusted across the board. Visual effects have also received attention, with improvements to buff effect displays, new effects when enemies drop items, and general refinements to animations for both players and enemies.

Game balance has been a major focus of these updates. The LP system has been adjusted to work with the new Restorative Offering feature. Additional revival points have been placed in dungeons, and various materials and upgrade requirements have been tweaked. Enemy placement, quantities, and behavior have also been modified throughout the game.

On the usability front, players will find numerous improvements. The game now features a “Trait List” and an “Order Obtained” tab in the inventory. NPC placement has been adjusted to better guide players toward the “Fading Bonds” questline. Tutorial content has been expanded and refined. Quality-of-life additions include lamps on “Jadwiga’s Minion” to make them easier to spot at night, sandbags and a Mistle at the training grounds, and improved storage functionality.

Camera controls, HUD options, and Photo Mode have all been enhanced. Field items now change color based on their importance, and “Golden Nectar” positions are now visible on the map. The bike’s durability has been adjusted, and the map unlocks faster after defeating a “Map Releaser.”

Players can now equip accessories in character customization, and face paint and scars can be flipped left or right. PC players specifically get additional graphics options including DLSS and FSR support, improved keyboard controls, and fixes for unintended lock-on target switching with keyboard and mouse.

Extensive Bug Fixes

The patches address a long list of bugs, including issues with partner scaling, boss reward drops, various softlocks, control responsiveness problems, and progression blockers. Visual glitches in cutscenes, hitbox mismatches, terrain clipping, and numerous other technical issues have been resolved.
