Tokyo-based publisher Edia has announced a partnership with Nihon Falcom to bring several of Falcom’s classic titles to modern platforms. Alongside the ports, the deal also establishes a global merchandise licensing agreement, expanding Falcom’s legacy franchises into both gaming and collectible markets.
Classic Titles Revived

The collaboration covers a collection of Falcom’s renowned releases that first debuted on the PC Engine CD-ROM. Development is now underway to modernize these games, with releases targeted for the 2026–2027 fiscal years.
The lineup includes:

-
Ys III: Wanderers from Ys (1991)
-
Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys (1993)
-
Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes (1991)

Beyond Simple Ports

While these games originally launched on the PC Engine CD-ROM, Edia confirmed that the upcoming releases will not merely be emulated versions. Although the company hasn’t revealed specifics yet, players can expect some form of updates, whether in visual presentation, quality-of-life features, or gameplay enhancements.
Planning Already Underway

Edia noted that product planning has already begun, signaling that the ports will go beyond just preserving history. Instead, the company aims to reintroduce these classics to a new generation of players, while still appealing to long-time fans.
Further information about the Edia–Falcom partnership and details about the ports will be revealed in the future. For now, fans of Falcom’s storied franchises can look forward to experiencing Ys, Xanadu, and Dragon Slayer with a modern polish when they return between 2026 and 2027.
