Fresh off its sweeping success at The Game Awards 2025—where Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took home several top honours including Game of the Year—Sandfall Interactive has released a significant free content drop for all players. Branded as the Thank You Update, the release reflects the studio’s appreciation for a year of overwhelming support, strong sales, and critical acclaim.
A New Level: Verso’s Drafts
The highlight of the update is a brand-new area called Verso’s Drafts. The level introduces a whimsical, dreamlike environment shaped around Verso’s childhood memories. Players can explore new zones, fight new encounters, and experience fresh cutscenes that reveal more about the character’s past. Lorien Testard also returns with new music written specifically for this biome. The composer describes these tracks as a playful farewell to the project, shaped by laughter, nostalgia, and the emotional close of a five-year creative journey.
13 New Weapons, 16 New Luminas, and Expanded Customization
Verso’s Drafts includes a wide range of unlockables. Players can discover 13 new weapons, several of which match the childlike theme of the level. The update also adds 16 new Luminas, offering more ways to refine combat builds. Sandfall includes new costumes and hairstyles for every character as well, from elegant designs to intentionally silly options.
A Fully Featured Photo Mode Arrives
After months of requests, Sandfall introduces a complete photo mode. Players can use 33 filters, tweak color grading, adjust the field of view, and reposition multiple customizable lights. The camera can even travel infinitely without collision, allowing fans to capture cinematic shots or search behind-the-scenes spaces. Sandfall expects players to get creative, especially during cutscenes.
Quality-of-Life Additions and Expanded Language Support
Beyond new content, the update introduces several usability improvements. Players can now filter Lumina searches, save preset Lumina loadouts, and abandon battles without penalties. The patch also expands text language support to Czech, Ukrainian, Mexican Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian, bringing the total number of supported languages to 19. Sandfall confirmed that more languages are planned for later updates.
New Challenges for Late-Game Players
The trailer for the Thank You Update ends with a teaser: an additional high-level encounter hidden at the end of Verso’s Drafts. For players who want even more difficulty, the Endless Tower has been updated with several new boss battles designed to test advanced parrying skills and late-game builds. Successful runs will reward players with fresh Pictos, costumes, and other rare items.
A Gesture of Gratitude After a Milestone Year
CEO and Creative Director Guillaume Broche emphasised that this update is intended as a direct gesture of appreciation to the global community that helped turn Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 into one of 2025’s most celebrated titles. Following the game’s sweep at The Game Awards—including wins for artistic direction, soundtrack, and the coveted Game of the Year—the studio felt it was the right moment to give players something meaningful at no extra cost.
