Blizzard Entertainment and NEXON have officially announced a new publishing partnership to bring Overwatch to PC in Korea, with operations planned to begin later this year. The collaboration aims to combine Blizzard’s development expertise with NEXON’s experience in live-service operations to deliver a gaming experience tailored specifically for Korean players.
A New Era for Overwatch in Korea

First launched in 2016, Overwatch has become one of Blizzard’s flagship franchises, renowned for its diverse roster of heroes and fast-paced, strategic gameplay. Earlier this year, Blizzard unveiled a new era for the game during the Overwatch Spotlight showcase, introducing a year-long narrative arc and five new heroes, with five additional heroes planned for release throughout 2026.
Through this partnership, NEXON will handle the publishing, live service, and business operations of Overwatch on PC within Korea, while Blizzard will continue to oversee overall game development and provide the Overwatch intellectual property. Both companies plan to deliver hyper-localized content and expand the IGR ecosystem to strengthen the game’s presence in the Korean market.
Statements from Blizzard and NEXON Leadership

Johanna Faries, President of Blizzard Entertainment, highlighted the importance of Korean players to the franchise, stating, “Korean players have long been a vital part of our global community, and their passion has helped shape Overwatch in meaningful ways. We look forward to partnering with NEXON, whose deep understanding of the Korean market and strong live-operations expertise is widely recognized, to continue to deliver exciting and dynamic experiences for players.”
Daehyun Kang and Jungwook Kim, Co-CEOs of NEXON Korea, echoed this enthusiasm: “By combining Blizzard’s outstanding development expertise with NEXON’s strengths in live service operations, we aim to bring Korean players the best possible Overwatch experience.”
Expanding the Local Team

To bring this vision to life, both Blizzard and NEXON will begin recruiting additional local talent. This will ensure that the game’s services, updates, and community interactions are optimized for Korean players. Further details on the publishing transition and in-country operations will be shared as the launch approaches later this year.
