Battlefield 6 Open Beta Hits 500K Players as Anti-Cheat Blocks Over 300K Attempts

Battlefield 6 has kicked off its biggest open beta in series history, pulling in more than 521,000 concurrent players on Steam. This achievement places it among the top 20 most-played games on the platform, surpassing titles like Helldivers 2 and Destiny 2.

SteamDB confirmed the record turnout over the weekend with the provided stats. At peak hours, many players experienced queues, a sign of the game’s surging popularity ahead of its October 10 release.

Cheaters Already in the Crosshairs

However, the large player base also brought a wave of cheaters. EA’s Javelin anti-cheat has already stopped over 330,000 cheating or tampering attempts in the first 48 hours.

Javelin operates at the kernel level, allowing it to detect hacks like wallhacks and aimbots. While some players have concerns about the system’s requirements and the exclusion of Linux users, EA insists that anti-cheat is an ongoing battle.

“Anti-cheat isn’t one-and-done,” the EA team explained. “It needs constant updates to keep up with new hacks. Please keep reporting suspicious players.”

EA has published a forum post detailing its efforts to combat cheating in the Battlefield 6 Open Beta.

A Record-Breaking Weekend

The beta’s success extends beyond PC. Early access on consoles has also drawn huge engagement. Moreover, players from the first weekend can carry their progress into the second test, encouraging them to return.

The numbers highlight the scale of the beta:

• 521,079 concurrent players on Steam

• 330,000 cheat attempts blocked in under two days

• Ranked among the top 20 games in Steam history by peak player count

With this level of momentum, Battlefield 6 could be one of EA’s biggest multiplayer launches in years.
