Knowing where to find your Deviants and Elder Dragons is good and all, but in the mean time, you’d probably want to do a spot of egg farming in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin for the gene gacha. Even if you don’t get your Super Rare dens, those XL genes aren’t gonna raise themselves.

METHOD

It is recommended to be in the post-game so that you can farm XL genes. Then, you want two Monsties:

• One with Nest Search
• One with Fly

Next, go to the Prayer Pot and activate your Finding Charms. If you’ve activated them often enough, you can get a maximum of 20% bonus on finding rare genes. While it’s unclear if Finding Prayers affect the spawn rate of Rare / Super Rare dens, it will at least boost the rare gene rate.

Following the Prayers, take a Catavan to the spots listed below, chosen for having the highest possible den spawn rate. Get on your Nest Search Monstie, Search, then open the map to check the den spawns. If nothing’s good, use the Catavan to wait till evening / next afternoon. The Flying Monstie is to get you to the dens you do want.

Later, take the Catavan to the Felyne Shelter. It’s the nearest Stable to a Catavan for an even speedier process of travelling in and out to hatch the eggs. After all, you can only carry 12 eggs at a time.

You can expect roughly 24 Good / Amazing smell eggs over the 30 minute duration of the Finding Prayer.

TIPS

Should you get engaged in battle, use Quick Finish. Otherwise, escape.

In Rare High Rank Dens, avoid searching nests more than four times, as you can’t escape from these battles. However, if you are strong enough to Quick Finish the monsters, you may risk more tries.
