Borderlands 3 Announces Next Gen Release

Borderlands 3 would be hopping to the frontier of next-generation consoles, along with several new features. The game would support vertical-split-screen, four-player local co-op and 60fps.

At the PAX Digital Showcase, Gearbox announced plans for the looter-shooter. The most prominent one was that the game would be making the jump to next-generation consoles. This upgrade would come at no cost to the player, as long as they maintained the same brand of console between generations.

Making the jump would also mean you could transfer save progress, so you wouldn’t have to restart your save from scratch. Additionally, the next-gen versions would support 60fps for single-player.

While many games have shied away from local co-op, Gearbox announced that Borderlands 3 would instead be embracing it. In a coming update, the game would support vertical split-screen, as well as up to four player local co-op. This wasn’t just reserved for next-gen, as current gen consoles would also receive this upgrade.

Gearbox also announced new add-on DLC for Borderlands 3. Unlike the previous narrative-driven ones, this DLC would see a new gametype, as well as new skill trees for the vault hunters. At the panel, they showed off the new skill tree for Fl4k. On top of that, the Vault Hunter would also be getting a new pet in the form of a Hyperion Loaderbot.
