Sandfall Interactive says it wants to bring Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to Nintendo Switch 2, though the studio is still working out whether a port is technically possible. The topic came up during a recent event in Yokohama, where Sandfall’s CEO and creative director Guillaume Broche, co-founder and CTO Tom Guillermin, and lead character and concept artist Alan Reynaud discussed the game’s development. Speaking to Automaton, the developers were asked directly whether Clair Obscur could run on Switch 2 and whether there were any plans for a port.
Broche confirmed the studio’s interest but stopped short of making any commitments. “We are interested in looking for a way to do it, but it’s too early for us to announce anything at this point,” he said.

Guillermin explained that the challenge comes down to matching the game’s visual ambitions with the Switch 2’s hardware limitations. “It’s a big technical challenge because we tried to do something beautiful with the game, but of course, the Switch 2 is not as powerful as the PlayStation or the Xbox Series X. So, it’s an important thing for us to consider, especially given the size of our studio,” he said.
The conversation also touched on the game’s use of Unreal Engine 5 and whether that adds to the difficulty of a potential port. The developers agreed that it does. Broche noted that while Switch 2 hardware officially supports Unreal Engine 5, many of the engine’s features are not yet compatible with the console.
