Yostar has shared new details about the future of the global version of its mobile RPG Aether Gazer. While the game will stop receiving new content later this year, it will not be shutting down. Instead, it will move into a long-term “Companion Server” phase that keeps the game playable for years to come.
The news follows an announcement from the Chinese version of Aether Gazer, which confirmed that its development team will stop creating new content for that server. In response, Yostar said the global version will keep receiving all of its planned updates until it catches up with everything already released on the Chinese server.
Dear Admin,
Thank you all very much for your continuous support and companionship throughout our journey with Aether Gazer.
By now, many of you may have seen the recent announcement from the CN server regarding the end of future updates. We know this has raised a lot of… pic.twitter.com/I4ftYjv1dr— Aether Gazer (@AetherGazerEN) July 23, 2026
The last major content update for the global version will be Version 5.2, set to launch on December 1, 2026. After that update goes live, players should not expect any new story chapters, characters, or gameplay content. The game’s servers, however, will remain active, so players will still be able to log in and enjoy everything already released.
To keep the game accessible long-term, Yostar plans to shift the global version into what it’s calling a Companion Server once updates end. This phase is currently expected to run until September 2031. The team also said that around March 2031, they will take another look at the game’s status and decide what happens next. Options being considered include extending server operations further or turning Aether Gazer into a free standalone offline client that no longer needs an internet connection to play.

Yostar has not yet shared specifics on when the Companion Server will launch or how players will access it, saying more information will come in a later announcement.
