The iconic science fiction visual novel STEINS;GATE is officially returning with a full remake titled STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT, launching on August 20, 2026 in Japan for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Developed by MAGES. and published alongside partners including Spike Chunsoft, the reboot brings updated visuals, refined systems, and an expanded narrative designed to modernize the beloved time travel story for a new generation while retaining its original identity.
English Support Confirmed for STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT

STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT will support English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese text, with full Japanese voice acting included.
While a western release date has not yet been officially confirmed, publisher Spike Chunsoft previously stated plans to release the game internationally in 2026. The inclusion of English language support in the Japanese release strongly suggests a possible simultaneous global launch on August 20, though this remains unconfirmed.
Rintaro Okabe Returns in a Rebuilt Timeline

The story once again follows Rintaro Okabe and the Future Gadget Laboratory, a group of eccentric tech enthusiasts whose experiments lead to the accidental discovery of time-altering communication.
Using a device capable of sending messages into the past, the group unintentionally unlocks the ability to reshape history. However, their discovery quickly draws them into a web of global conspiracies, fractured timelines, and escalating consequences that threaten reality itself.
Fully Remade Visuals and Expanded Story Content

STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is not simply a remaster, but a full visual and structural reboot. Character designs, environments, and interface elements have all been rebuilt from the ground up.
The setting of Akihabara has been recreated with greater realism, offering a more immersive interpretation of the city’s streets and atmosphere. Original character designer huke returns to redesign the cast with updated outfits and modernized visual styling while preserving their iconic identities.
In addition to the core narrative, the remake also introduces an entirely new scenario that expands the world of STEINS;GATE, offering fresh story content even for returning fans.
Choices That Shape Multiple Endings

Like the original release, STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT remains a branching narrative visual novel where player decisions significantly impact the outcome of the story.
Multiple endings are included, determined by key choices made throughout the game. The familiar phone trigger system also returns, allowing players to influence events through message interactions that alter the flow of time itself.
The full experience is estimated to run between 30 to 50 hours, making it a substantial narrative-driven title even for long-time fans of the series.
Multiple STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT Editions Confirmed

STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT will be available in several physical and digital editions across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch, including standard, limited, and ultra-limited editions featuring art books, soundtracks, and anniversary live event content.
Digital editions will also include bonus visual collections and soundtrack materials, along with recordings from the STEINS;GATE 15th LIVE -ONE WORLD- event.
A Modern Revival of a STEINS;GATE
With its updated presentation, expanded narrative content, and modern platform support, STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT aims to reintroduce one of the most acclaimed visual novels of all time to both new players and returning fans.
The game launches on August 20, 2026 in Japan, with a global release expected to follow closely depending on regional publishing plans.
