Aniplex, tri-Ace, and Lasengle have announced OCTOPinbs, a multiplayer social deduction game where a group of firefighters and secret arsonists go head-to-head. The game supports three to 10 players and is set to launch on PC via Steam this spring.
Each match randomly assigns players into one of two roles: firefighters (octopuses) or artists (squids). The firefighters work to put out flames and figure out who among them is secretly making things worse, while the artists blend in and quietly fan the fire without getting caught. Firefighters win by either reducing stage incineration to zero percent or stuffing all artists into Octojars. Artists win by pushing incineration up to 100 percent or taking out every firefighter the same way.
Octojars are the game’s main tool for rooting out the enemy. Stuffing a suspicious player into one reveals their identity on the spot. If they turn out to be an artist, that’s a point for the firefighters. But if an innocent firefighter gets jammed in instead, the team loses one of their own and has to keep going shorthanded.
Artists have the option to reveal themselves mid-game. Doing so exposes their location to the firefighters, but in exchange they get a boost in mobility and HP along with new abilities. It’s a high-risk move meant for moments when a team is close to clinching the win or wants to make a last stand.

Players who take too much damage from fires or other players will lose their current body, but the match doesn’t end there. Heading to the fire truck lets them grab a new one and jump back into the action.
Outside of matches, players can practice actions, go through tutorials, use emotes to communicate, and adjust match rules to suit their group. The game supports English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, French, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
