A new report from Bloomberg suggests that Sony Interactive Entertainment is preparing to scale back its PC strategy. Journalist Jason Schreier cites sources familiar with internal discussions at the company. According to those sources, Sony plans to stop bringing its biggest single-player PlayStation 5 titles to PC.
If true, this marks a major shift in direction. Over the past few years, Sony steadily expanded its presence on PC. That initiative helped the company reach new audiences beyond the PlayStation ecosystem. Now, it appears Sony may refocus on console exclusivity.
Ghost of Yotei and Saros to Remain PS5 Exclusives

The report claims that Ghost of Yotei and Saros will stay exclusive to PlayStation 5. Sony reportedly canceled internal plans to port Ghost of Yotei and other first-party projects to PC. These changes happened in recent weeks, according to people familiar with the matter.
Sony will still release multiplayer and live-service titles on PC. Games such as Marathon and MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls remain part of the company’s multi-platform plans. This suggests Sony sees online games differently from narrative-driven single-player titles.
The shift does not affect externally developed projects published by PlayStation. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Kena: Scars of Kosmora are still targeting PC launches later this year. Sony appears to focus this policy specifically on internally developed single-player games.
Internal Concerns Over Brand and Hardware Sales

Sources told Bloomberg that some leaders within Sony Interactive Entertainment raised concerns about brand positioning. They believe PC releases may weaken the PlayStation identity. Others worry that day-one or eventual PC launches could reduce PlayStation 5 hardware sales.
Sony began releasing major titles on PC in 2020, starting with Horizon Zero Dawn. The company later brought God of War (2018), God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima, and the Marvel’s Spider-Man series to PC. Most of these games launched on PC months or years after their console debut.

That staggered strategy allowed Sony to preserve console exclusivity at launch. At the same time, it created a second revenue window on PC. If this new report proves accurate, Sony may now prioritize hardware value over extended platform reach.
No Official Comment from Sony

Bloomberg contacted Sony Interactive Entertainment for comment. A company spokesperson declined to respond.
Sony has not confirmed the reported changes. Until the company issues a formal statement, the plan remains unofficial. However, if Sony moves forward with this strategy, it could redefine expectations for future PlayStation 5 exclusives and their availability on PC.
