Hideo Kojima has welcomed 2026 with a message outlining what fans can expect from Kojima Productions in the coming year. The developer says the studio will focus on its “Second Phase” while preparing for a “Third Phase” of operations.
In his New Year message, Kojima explained that 2026 will be different from the previous year. Instead of traveling extensively, he plans to stay grounded and build strong foundations for upcoming projects.
Happy New Year.
In 2026, we will move forward with the “Second Phase” that leads into KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS’ “Third Phase.”
Unlike last year, like I was traveling all over the world, this year will be about staying grounded and laying solid foundations. We will continue development… pic.twitter.com/yje0zAY1md— HIDEO_KOJIMA (@HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN) December 31, 2025
The studio will continue working on two major games currently in development. Work on the horror title “OD” will proceed, while preparations for the espionage action game “PHYSINT” move forward. For PHYSINT, the team will handle casting actors and conduct scanning and performance capture sessions.
Death Stranding fans also have content to look forward to. Kojima Productions is working on a live-action film adaptation of Death Stranding, along with both an animated movie and series based on the franchise.

Kojima mentioned that several events are being prepared for this year, though specific details will be shared once plans are finalized. The message comes at a significant time for Kojima personally, 2026 marks his 40th year working in the game industry, having started his career in 1986. He closed his message by thanking fans for their ongoing support of both him and Kojima Productions.
