SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have released a six-minute gameplay overview trailer for Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties during today’s Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties Direct.
The game is a remake of the original Yakuza 3, which first came out on PlayStation 3 in 2009. This updated version features improved graphics, more intense battles, additional cutscenes, and expanded minigames. Players once again follow Kazuma Kiryu as he fights to protect the people he cares about.
The package also includes Dark Ties, a separate story focused on Yoshitaka Mine, one of Kiryu’s enemies from the original game. Dark Ties follows Mine’s path from running a venture company to joining the yakuza after losing everything.
Kiryu’s Story
The Direct showed Kiryu living in Okinawa, where he runs the Morning Glory Orphanage. When threats emerge that could force him and the children out, Kiryu uses the Ryukyu Style, a fighting technique based on Okinawa’s local combat traditions.
A major addition is Bad Boy Dragon, a new mode where Kiryu leads the Haisai Girls, a small delinquent gang in Okinawa. Players recruit members, train them, and defend territory from rival groups.

Bad Boy Dragon includes squad-based fights called Baddies Battles and larger Rumbles where up to 20 allies face over 100 enemies. Turf Wars let players lead motorcycle-based attacks on enemy bases using different routes. Players can customize weapons, uniforms, bikes, and gang mottos.
Dark Ties
The Dark Ties portion introduces Hell’s Arena, an underground fight club where wealthy people bet on matches.
Hell’s Arena has two event types. Hellish Brawls are timed one-on-one fights, sometimes with multiple opponents in a row. Survival Hell sends Mine through dungeon areas while being chased, collecting items, and fighting a boss at the end.

During Survival Hell runs, players can find Gospels that improve abilities, Survival Weapons that work as combat skills, and Mercenaries who fight alongside Mine. Each dungeon ends with a boss battle against one of seven masked hunters.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties releases on February 12, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
