In the latest Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, Capcom revealed extensive new details about their upcoming action RPG, including the first opportunity for players to face off against the game’s flagship monster, Arkveld, nicknamed the “White Wraith.” The fearsome creature, characterized by distinctive chain-like wing appendages, will be available through a challenging special advanced quest during the upcoming open beta tests.
The showcase introduced a new environment, the Iceshard Cliffs, expanding the game’s world beyond the previously known Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, and Oilwell Basin. This frosty biome will be home to Hirabami, a newly revealed ice-dwelling leviathan capable of floating and attacking with its pincer-style tail. Veterans of the series will also welcome the return of two familiar monsters: the spider-like Nerscylla and Gore Magala from Monster Hunter 4.
Players can participate in two upcoming open beta tests: the first running from February 6-9 and the second from February 13-16, both starting at 7 PM PT. The beta will feature cross-platform multiplayer, character creation with transfer capabilities to the full game, and new features including private lobbies and a single-player online mode. While progress won’t carry over, participants will receive a bonus pendant and item pass for the full release.
Capcom also detailed several quality-of-life improvements, including a streamlined layered armor system that automatically registers when crafting High Rank gear. The traditional Guild Cards have been replaced with an enhanced Hunter Profile system, and a new photo mode has been implemented with various customization options. Players can also personalize their pop-up camps with furniture, tent patterns, colors, and music selections, as well as customize their Seikret companion’s appearance as they progress through the story.
For PC players preparing for launch, Capcom has released a benchmark tool on Steam, allowing them to test their system’s performance with the game ahead of its release.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches on February 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Capcom has announced plans to begin rolling out limited-time event quests one week after release, offering special cosmetic rewards for participants. Players of Monster Hunter World and Iceborne will receive bonus Palico equipment and a special nameplate if they purchase Wilds.
