We got our hands on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) The Cowabunga Collection Limited Edition which features some really cool collectibles that are themed around our favourite heroes in a half shell, and here is our unboxing article.

Overview

The TMNT The Cowabunga Collection limited edition features a handful of goodies that fans can expect from the bundle, such as:

• Artbook with 180 pages of development drawings and art
• 24″ x 16″ Cloth Poster with Kevin Eastman Illustration

• 12 Translucent Plastic Tournament Fighters cards

And to those who are wondering what the TMNT The Cowabunga Collection is all about, it is a compilation of 13 older Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Games with a fresh new coat of quality of life improvements.

Homage To The Classics

The 24″ x 16″ (Approx. 60.96 cm x 40.64 cm) poster made out of cloth is already pretty cool given that it’s rare to see this material being used. On the poster itself, we can see Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello tumbling through time in an artstyle that’s very reminiscent to the original comic book style, because it is illustrated by Kevin Eastman  who is one of the co-creators and comic book artist of the franchise.

The cloth poster wasn’t the only thing that Kevin Eastman had designed for, the very box cover that holds the bundle together is also brandishes the bodacious flair that the TMNT franchise has built itself upon. If you’re a fan of original comic book designs, you’re definitely in a treat with these goodies.

Collectibles

First up on the list of collectibles 3D Acrylic Diorama of the four turtle brothers. The diorama is comprised from 5 different pieces (3 pieces for the turtles, 1 piece for the background and another for the base) and it doesn’t come pre-assembled from the box. Although you don’t need to worry about it being too difficult to assemble it together since you can just fit them in slots.

Next up on the list of TMNT collectibles are the set of 5 metal pins that features a pixel art aesthetic to some of the characters from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise as well as some of the vehicles that the turtles use in the games.

The pins of the characters shows off Krang, Shredder and Technodrome and as for the vehicles, the pin features the Turtle Blimp and the Turtle Van which is also sometimes called the Party Wagon. Fans can embed these pins onto to their bag to show off these neat designs!

With the reoccurring theme being retro, the next collectible will also be able to scratch that vintage itch as the Cowabunga Edition also includes in 12 Translucent Plastic cards of some of the characters from TMNT Tournament Fighters and it just screams out retro.

You got all these characters posing in all sorts of dynamic poses that’s very reminiscent to the 80s style of art. I think one of my favourite card among the 12 would be Donatello’s since the card shows him using his ultimate move from the game – Fire Dragon.

Last but definitely not least, my personal favourite in the bundle would be the Artbook for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Cowabunga Collection. The artbook is perfect for those who enjoy some of the behind the scenes decision making when designing some of the TMNT games since it features a lot of cool concept art of characters as well as glimpses of early storyboard designs. Some of the pages also include a brief detail of each of the games that are included in the collection that I think are pretty neat!
