A live-action movie is being developed based on the classic arcade game Pac-Man.
The movie will be a co-production between Pac-Man IP holder Bandai Namco Entertainment and Wayfarer Studios.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the project was based on an original story idea from Chuck Williams, the associate producer of the Sonic The Hedgehog movie. The film will be produced by Wayfarer founder Justin Baldoni alongside Manu Gargi and Andrew Calof and developed by Tracy Ryerson on behalf of Wayfarer.

There is currently little information about the movie or what exactly a live-action Pac-Man movie would entail. Considering it’s being based on a premise from the same man that did the highly successful Sonic Movies, I can see the logic behind wanting to bring another classic video game mascot to the silver screen.
Pac-Man has previously been adapted into TV shows including both the 1982 Pac-Man Cartoon and 2013’s Pac-Man: The Ghostly Adventures.
The character has also made cameos in a number of feature films including Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph and the Adam Sandler comedy Pixels where the Pac-Man sprite is brought to life by aliens to destroy the human race.
The original Pac-Man arcade game doesn’t really have a story beyond eating dots and running away from ghosts. It’s interesting to see how this live-action adaptation builds upon that simple concept.
