To celebrate Top Gun: Maverick releasing in Malaysian cinemas this 26 May, United International Pictures Malaysia (UIP) will be showcasing a Top Gun: Maverick 3D Anamorphic Display at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

The 30-second custom 3D animation will be displayed for 2-weeks only, starting today, the 23rd of May to the 5th of June at the Pavillion Mall in Kuala Lumpur’s city center.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a picture of the display just yet but from the sounds of it, it’ll be well worth checking out for all those ready to soar through the clouds.

Malaysia will be one of ten countries going live with this initiative, the others include Australia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, the UK, and the US.

This, of course, is being done in preparation for the release of Top Gun Maverick. A film that (as you may have seen from the trailers) was supposed to release back in 2020 but has been delayed for two years due to the covid pandemic. Check out the trailer below:

The film is a sequel to the classic 80s action movie starring Tom Cruise as a jet pilot partaking in fast aerial dog fights. Here is more detailed synopsis of the new film:

“After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is back where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.” Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.”

UIP Malaysia says that the Top Gun: Maverick 3D Anamorphic Display is just the first of many initiatives they wish to take to more prominently advertise their films and there will be many more to come.
