Apex Legends is heading into its 13th season, with a new Legend in Newcastle, and also, the return Storm Point! This map is getting an update, with a bunch of other things that will be coming with it.

STORM POINT UPDATES

They wanted to make the map more competitive without removing anything they felt was important. Combat inside the monster is supposed to be this epic, cool thing, so the associated POIs are meant to be this loot pinata, with all the best stuff in the belly of the beast. If you can climb it and get the high ground, you can try for the vision advantage, while other squads below you still have options to flank you.

Positioned between the north pad, checkpoint and the mill, there’s potential for some new and interesting rotations as you weave in and out of the area. The high tier POI has an added intention to try spread players around better across the map, which will have quality of life updates in new IMC armouries, new camp and changes to existing ones.

They’re definitely not done with Storm Point, believing there’s still plenty of gameplay and story opportunities, it being the newest map to the lineup. It should be able to stand alongside the other maps at a competitive level, with the team wanting to continuously evolve its experience to keep it fresh. Storm Point is them pushing further with elevation and sheer scale. Not that they think they’re ever truly finished with maps, constantly being on the lookout to see what else they can improve moving forward.

Community feedback has its part to play, especially when they see certain comments repeated continuously, taking that as their starting point for update considerations. While the exact nature of future changes are not something they can discuss at this juncture, rest assured that the team takes their players’ feedback seriously as the game evolves over time.

IMC ARMOURIES

These are relics left over from the war, left underground and undeployed. These automated conflict support structures are filled with combat cargo and buried underground in Storm Point, to surface when the beast approaches. Players who enter these will initiate a 60 second timed combat encounter to clear waves of specters. You don’t have to worry about other teams trying to snipe you, as the entry ramp will shut once the encounter is underway. There is one way in, and two ways out should you need to get back into the actual battle royale: leave the way you came in, or through the roof. You can peek out the windows to see if anyone’s camping there, provided you do have the situational awareness to get the jump instead.

Rewards increase with the number of waves cleared, with your loot provided in new smart loot bins adjusting its content based on what you’ve currently equipped. This ensures you’re always getting something valuable, be it direct upgrades or stuff you haven’t found on the map yet, and supplies. This gameplay follows up on the PVE AI they’ve been working on. It’s supposed to be a unique PVE encounter that is worthwhile to engage with.

That said, the PVE components are meant to complement, not supplant. These armouries are not presently planned for future map updates, being self-contained to Storm Point for the time being. They bring up community feedback again; should there be demand, then they could definitely appear elsewhere. For now, should you find yourself in one, keep an eye on the screens, read the rules, and play.
