The Super Mario Bros Movie Has Been Delayed to 2023

Nintendo has announced that the new animated Super Mario Bros Movie will be delayed to April of 2023.

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has made a statement saying that he and Illumination Animation CEO Chris Meledandri had agreed to push the film back to April 7th in the USA and April 28th in Japan.

The film was originally going to be released in December of 2022, meaning it has been pushed back about four months.

This is Miyamoto. After consulting with Chris-san, my partner at Illumination on the Super Mario Bros. film, we decided to move the global release to Spring 2023–April 28 in Japan and April 7 in North America. My deepest apologies but I promise it will be well worth the wait.

So far, no confirmed reason has been given for the delay of the movie.

The film is being made by Illumination Animation who worked on the Despicable Me movies and will feature an all-star cast consisting of:

• Mario – Chris Pratt
• Luigi – Charlie Day
• Princess Peach – Anya Taylor-Joy
• Bowser – Jack Black
• Toad – Keegan-Michael Key
• Donkey Kong – Seth Rogan
• Kamek – Michael Richardson
• Cranky Kong – Fred Armisen
• Foreman Spike – Sebastian Maniscalco

The will also be voice cameos from Mario and Luigi’s original voice actors from the games Charles Martinet.

The Super Mario Bros Movie has now been delayed to April of 2033.
