YuGiOh Puts Out Heartwarming Ad To Celebrate English OCG Release

Konami has put out an incredibly emotional ad as part of the celebrations for the YuGiOh OCG Asia English release.

The ad takes the form of a three-minute short film, showing a group of friends growing up alongside the YuGiOh OCG.

Currently it’s available to watch on the YuGiOh Asia Facebook page, and covers the friends growing up playing the game as children (with the Japanese cards) and progressing through life from elementary and secondary school even through graduation and adult life.

The scenes should be familiar to anyone who grew up playing card games- from the line of tables at card shops, the use of cards that you’d know from the anime like Flute of Summoning Dragon, down to having the different card arts for Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

Naturally, adult life catches up to them where they’re caught in the loop of not having time for each other to get their dueling on.

In the heat of the emotional climax of Konami even tugs at the audience’s heart strings with a cheeky “We all have something that brings us back together” before reminding players about the OCG English release.

The OCG English release comes in the form of two structure decks made to particularly tug at anime fans’ fond memories: a Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician themed deck each.

Konami had also previously posted a shorter version of the ad on their YouTube channel.
