XLGAMES is developing a new mobile MMORPG, said to be a “realistic, hardcore” title utilizing Unreal Engine 4. A recruitment drive looking for battle and level planners was opened, asking for more than 3 years experience working with PC and mobile RPG projects for either position. The job scope includes quest data, concepting and terrain, presumably with regards to accepting quests and exploration, which doesn’t tell much. Through Kakao Games, it seems that this mobile MMORPG project will see XLGAMES release a “blockbuster” title that can provide a PC quality experience on the go to launch in 2022. It’s planned for a global release, which we’ll have to see if it’d be launched simultaneously or not.
The news is interesting as XLGAMES’ portfolio includes ArcheAge, and the Legendary Moonlight Sculptor game, which is currently in its pre-registration phase for its global release. The company is no stranger to either mobile MMORPGs or global releases which are long lasting and generally well-received. Considering how many previously PC / console MMORPG titles are servicing their own mobile versions, the potential for something like an ArcheAge mobile is there.
Since it’s planned for a 2022 release, we probably won’t learn anything new for a while yet, but interested parties can always keep an eye out.
