Xbox Confirms Forza Horizon 6 Arrives in 2026, PS5 Delayed

Microsoft has confirmed that Forza Horizon 6, the next entry in its open-world racing series, will not launch on PlayStation 5 alongside Xbox and PC. The game is scheduled for release in 2026, with PS5 players joining later.

Xbox and PC First, PS5 Later

The confirmation came through an Xbox Wire post, which clarified the staggered release. Forza Horizon 6 will launch first on Xbox consoles and PC. Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios will then bring the game to PlayStation 5, though no release window has been shared.

This move surprised many fans. Microsoft has recently embraced cross-platform releases. Doom: The Dark Ages will launch on PS5 the same day as other versions. The Outer Worlds 2 is also planned as a day-one release across Xbox and PlayStation. Earlier this year, Forza Horizon 5 finally came to PS5, where it quickly gained popularity.

A Journey Through Japan

The new setting is already creating excitement. Art director Don Arcera revealed that players will explore both urban and rural Japan. Expect neon-lit streets in Tokyo alongside mountain roads and peaceful countryside areas.

The team is not aiming for a one-to-one recreation of Japan. Instead, they want to capture the nation’s cultural essence and present it in the series’ trademark style. With its blend of cityscapes and natural beauty, Japan may be the most ambitious Horizon world yet.

Building on Forza Horizon 5’s Success

Forza Horizon 5 launched in November 2021 and broke Xbox records with more than 10 million players in its first week. The PS5 release earlier this year expanded its reach even further, earning praise from a wider audience.
