WayForward has announced that a new Shantae game is currently in development, marking the seventh main entry in the series. The news was shared by WayForward’s chief corporate officer Matt Bozon during the LRG3 2025 broadcast this week.
“Today I get to share some very exciting news, and that is that we’re currently hard at work on a brand-new, seventh entry in the Shantae series,” Bozon said. He added that the team won’t have more information to share for a while, but hopes fans will look forward to it.

The announcement came shortly after the successful launch of Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution, a previously lost Game Boy Advance title that was recently completed and released. Bozon thanked fans for their support of that release before revealing the new project.
No additional details about the seventh Shantae game have been provided at this time, including its title, target platforms, or release window. The Shantae series has grown over the years with multiple entries featuring the half-genie hero and her adventures. While Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution was the most recent release, it was originally a lost GBA game that was recently revived and completed. The last new main entry in the series prior to this announcement would have been one of the earlier titles in the franchise.
