A Village Vanguard Gridman collaboration has just been announced, with merchandise based on the popular anime SSSS.GRIDMAN being available for purchase soon.

The merchandise features the faces of the franchise, Shinjo Akane and Takarada Rikka, in specially designed illustrations for the book store. The merchandise will be available for purchase from March 6th, 2021.

According to the Village Vanguard website, the items can be bought via mail-order as well, though they don’t mention if they also do overseas shipping or not.

The standout pieces of the Village Vanguard Gridman collaboration is the “oversized” Acrylic stands, which are upwards of 25cm in height. These come with two different designs for each of the characters, one of them in skate gear standing up, while another one has them in custom designed Gridman gaming chairs.

The standing ones are 258mm (25.8cm) while the chair ones are 358mm (35.8cm, well over a foot tall). At these extravagant sizes, you’ll definitely want to clear some space for them.

Of course, outside of that there’s also the more standard collaboration merchandise such as T-Shirts, folders and life-sized tapestries featuring the art of the characters. These can be viewed on the Village Vanguard website.

In addition, the store will be giving out a mystery gift box to those who purchase more than 3000 Yen worth of items, and comemmorative stickers will be given to those who buy them physically from the store.

The illustrations were done by artists Syunpei Gunyasu, who did the skate designs while Akihiro Sato did the gaming chair ones.

Despite not being spandex-clad Tokusatsu heroes, the characters Rikka and Akane have been largely the face of the Gridman anime, appearing in all their promotional materials, even in the mobile game Iron Saga despite being neither mecha nor mecha pilots.
