Valve has officially announced the existence of their latest third-person MOBA shooter, Deadlock and has listed the game on Steam. Deadlock is currently in its early development stages with lots of temporary art and experimental gameplay.
To join the game, you need an invite code, which you can only obtain from friends who are currently playtesting Deadlock.
Features
Deadlock is designed as a 6v6 multiplayer shooter where players select heroes, each with unique abilities and roles. The game combines traditional hero shooter elements with mechanics inspired by Valve’s popular MOBA, Dota 2.
Deadlock features lanes where teams push towards objectives, battling not just other players but also AI-controlled “creeps” and mini-bosses. This adds a strategic layer to the fast-paced combat typical of hero shooters. The heroes in Deadlock draw inspiration from the Dota universe, featuring unique abilities designed to dramatically influence the course of a match. Each hero is likely to have a specific role, such as damage dealing, support, or tanking.
EuroGamer reported that by May, Valve had already begun playtesting Deadlock. Earlier this month, the game surpassed 10,000 concurrent players, as recorded by SteamDB. Currently, there is no known release window for the upcoming MOBA shooter title. Players who are interested in Deadlock can now add the game to their wishlist on Steam.
