Upcoming game from Shin Megami Tensei team is titled Monark

In the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu the previously teased “New School Role Playing Game” now goes by the name, Monark. The new school RPG (likely refers to a new RPG set in a school environment) is a project being developed by the staff that worked on Megami Tensei and Shin Megami Tensei titles.

Not much is known about Monark besides the information above. However, the secretive project now has a teaser website. You can check out the teaser website yourself by visiting monarkgame.com

The teaser website contains links to the Twitter and LINE accounts of the game. Unfortunately, the social media handles for the project are as vague as the teaser website itself.

The most important piece of information from the teaser website is the countdown to an upcoming announcement on the project. Based on the countdown timer, an announcement will be made on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 1pm JST.

The website also contains the partially censored names of the supposed staff members. In addition, there is also a Japanese phone number on the website, according to Gematsu, calling the number results in the following:

You will hear some struggling and a scream, followed by a man saying something like, “Finally. I’ve been waiting for you, my foolish, silly, precious child.”

The creepy and obscure vibes from what we know of Monark thus far certainly seem to fit the tone of an early Shin Megami Tensei game. In the meantime, stay tuned for the announcement on June 10.
